5 easy ways to get in shape while watching TV.
Push ups and Sit-ups
Next time you catch yourself sitting around watching TV, try doing some pushups and sit-ups during the commercials. Pushups and sit-ups are a great cardio/fat burning workouts, and they actually are great for increasing your strength and muscle mass. Little known fact, a Heisman Trophy winning running back named Hershel Walker who played for the Dallas Cowboys cut out weight lifting all together and instead he stuck to push ups and situps to stay in shape.
Stretching
I can’t stress how important stretching is to your body, and it is actually a calorie burning workout. Stretching while watching TV is a very easy adjustment and you will definitely feel the difference after a month. In my opinion Stretching and staying limber is one of the most important ways of feeling youthful as you age.
Curls
Keep those arms toned or growing while watching TV, all it takes is purchasing a couple dumbbells and placing them behind or underneath your couch. Four sets of curls every day will do wonders for your biceps in the long run. Females don’t worry about having huge bulging biceps, those girls you see in muscle magazines are using steroids I promise.
Squats/Lunges
IF you really want to tone your legs as well as gain flexibility, squats and lunges are a great way to achieve both. In fact if you jump as high as you can after squatting down you can increase your vertical jump as well as get a great cardio workout.
Calf Raises
A great weight to increase your speed, vertical jump and Calf size is calf raises. They are very simple, just roll your feet until you are standing on the tip of your toes and come back down, repeat those until you get a good burn in your calf’s, then do that three times during the day.
Those are five Ideas, but the main point is to keep your heart rate up while you are sitting around. If you do that you will start to improve more than you though possible.
